B-CC Earns Gold at Stotesbury!

Over 5,600 athletes from 182 high schools in 11 states and Canada descended on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia last weekend for the 89th Annual Stotesbury Cup Regatta. Competition at the world’s oldest and largest high school regatta was stiffer than ever, but B-CC Crew was ready for the challenge. Coming off strong performances at Maryland State and WMIRA Championships, an impressive 5 of 6 B-CC boats advanced from time trials to semi-finals, and two boats went on to represent the Barons in the Stotesbury finals.

The Girls Second Eight followed up a first place finish in time trials by taking first in their semi-final heat to advance to finals. In the finals, the 2V took an early lead and never let go, finishing first by open water, winning the first Stotesbury Gold for the Barons in 11 years (the Girls 2V also won gold in 2004). Congratulations to the Girls 2V for an exceptional performance!

The Girls First Eight advanced to semis with a strong fourth in time trials. In a nail-biter semifinal, the girls crossed the finish line just .04 (a photo finish not visible to the naked eye) ahead of McLean to advance. The 1V took fourth in the final behind crews from Philadelphia, Upstate NY and Long Island and earning the honor of fastest DC-area girls crew.

Congratulations to all of the Barons on their hard work and success. For complete results: http://stotesburycupregatta.com/results/
